The Erie APAA Creative Writing Contest

The Erie APAA Creative Writing Contest is a great opportunity for children and their parents to learn more about the different cultures and festivals of Asia. Here are a few celebrations from Asia to get you started on the creative process.

In Bangladesh, April 14 is the Bengali New Year. The day is celebrated with singing, processions, eating festive foods and fairs. People dress up in festive clothes, usually red and white combination.

April 23rd is celebrated as Children's Day in Turkey and ethnic and traditional dances are performed at schools, stadiums and village centers

Moon Festival or Mid-Autumn Festival is the second grandest festival in China after the Chinese New Year. It is celebrated in the middle of the autumn season in China. The festival is associated with family reunion, harvest celebration and moon cake appreciation.
